Hello and welcome to my website!
My name is Jo Bjørkli Helgetun and I am a researcher in public policy and education, an A.I trainer, translator, and occasional language teacher.
I have researched policymaking in teacher education in England and France, the importance of context in education and policymaking, globalization and international trends in politics, research policy in Norway, and the ongoing digitalization of society. Currently, I am writing two books with Emerald on the teacher and the nation state.
My interests revolve around understanding why humans act as we do, and how we interplay with science and technology. I am particularly interested in understanding how we can use research and technology to improve lives as opposed to it enshitificating our work. I believe this begins with understanding what sciences and technologies are and can do, as well as what they are not and cannot do.
I speak Norwegian, English, French, and Spanish more or less fluently, and stutter along in German on occasion. Over the years I have lived in Norway, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and now Spain.
